Why Meigs County Canine Rescue Needs a Missy Trap, and How You Can Help

Active Fundraiser
A real case from Meigs County, and why we need to be ready for the next one

Some dogs are too scared to be saved by hand. Abandoned, frightened, and surviving on instinct, the most skittish dogs will not let anyone near them. Chasing them only drives them toward roads and danger. For these dogs, the only thing that works is a humane trap they trust enough to walk into on their own.

Right now, the Meigs County Canine Rescue does not have a large or extra-large box trap, and no reliable way to safely capture the most skittish, at-risk dogs in their area. When one of these cases comes up, they have called on Pet Search Alliance, and we have brought our Missy trap to help time and again.

Here is the honest truth. Meigs County sits outside our primary service area. We will always offer what support we can from a distance, but we cannot be the first boots on the ground every time a frightened, abandoned dog needs catching down there. If Meigs County had a Missy trap of their own, they would not have to wait on anyone. They could deploy immediately, and we could support them remotely from start to finish.

PSA Missy trap field deployment

This fundraiser fully equips the Meigs County Canine Rescue with a complete Missy trap recovery system, ready to deploy at a moment's notice.

  • A complete Missy trap, the proven method for catching even the most fearful dogs, and capable of catching two dogs at once when needed
  • A low entry threshold on natural ground, so a nervous dog does not feel a wire cage under its feet the way it would with a traditional trap
  • Both remote trigger and wire trigger options for flexible, hands-off captures
  • A Vosker cellular trail camera with one full year of service prepaid, sending instant notifications the moment something enters the trap
  • 24-hour monitoring capability
  • One year of parts and service from Pet Search Alliance
  • Backup support from our own satellite-enabled Missy traps whenever the situation calls for it
Draco, a dog recovered with Missy trap support

This is Draco, another dog who came home because the right tool was available at the right moment. Skittish, hesitant, but caught humanely without a chase. Every dog like Draco deserves the same chance, and a trap stationed in Meigs County puts that chance within reach of many more.

Trusted Partner, Proven in the Field
Cellular trail cameras that alert in real time
Visit Vosker

Every trap in this package includes a Vosker cellular camera with one full year of monitoring service prepaid. We rely on Vosker on every active case ourselves. The instant a dog enters the trap, the team gets a push alert, so no animal sits caged longer than necessary. Reliable, weatherproof, and proven in the field across two states of recoveries.

Missy trap setup in the field

A trap like this saves manpower, fuel, and time, the three things a small rescue never has enough of. More importantly, it reaches the dogs that hands alone never could. Instead of scrambling to borrow equipment when a terrified, abandoned dog is loose near a road, Meigs County Canine Rescue will have a professional recovery system standing ready in their own community, with our remote backup just a phone call away.
