Trick or Treat for Lost Pets: Thank You, Just Paws and Enjoy Life
This October, Jill Beane of Just Paws and Enjoy Life donated a Halloween treat basket to Pet Search Alliance, and every raffle entry went to helping families in the Mid-Ohio Valley bring their lost pets home.
It is the second basket Jill has given us this year. Her Easter basket raffle in the spring raised $335 for search work, and when she offered to do it again for Halloween, we said yes before she finished the sentence.
What was in the basket
Jill makes single ingredient dog and cat treats in her kitchen in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and she filled this basket with six of them: chicken jerky, chicken feet, freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried beef heart, freeze dried chicken bites and freeze dried salmon bites. She added a Halloween decoration set, two dog toys and a trick or treat basket to carry it all, about a $90 value.
Every treat in there is one ingredient and nothing else. No fillers, no preservatives, no added sugar. If you have a picky eater, or a dog that does not do well with the usual store bought treats, Just Paws and Enjoy Life is worth a look.
Where the money goes
Pet Search Alliance is a nonprofit lost pet recovery team serving the Mid-Ohio Valley. We have supported more than 200 families searching for a missing dog or cat. Some searches wrap up in a day. Others take weeks. Lia's case stayed active for more than 40 days.
A search takes thermal drone flights, flyers and community alerts, humane traps, and people willing to stay on it. Raffles like this one help cover those costs so we can say yes when a family calls.

Thank you to Jill and the Just Paws team, and to everyone who entered, shared or forwarded the raffle. If you would like to meet Jill and try her treats in person, she is at craft shows and markets across the region all season. Her upcoming shows and markets are listed on her website.
