Case Summary

Ripley is a small male Yorkie who went missing shortly after being rehomed. He had only been with his new family for two days and was not familiar with the area. He slipped out the door and immediately went into survival mode.

Ripley is extremely skittish by nature and avoided people, making recovery challenging. Over time, he relied on cover and stayed hidden until awareness finally put the right eyes on him.

On January 16, a resident recognized Ripley from shared posts and flyers and was able to safely corral him. At that point, Ripley was exhausted and ready to give up. He had lost some weight but was otherwise safe.

Ripley is now home, warm, clean, and resting comfortably after a warm bath and much-needed care.

Search Efforts (Completed)

  • Multiple confirmed sightings via cameras and cell phones

  • Thermal drone searches conducted by MOV Drone Workz

  • Wildlife clearly visible on thermal, confirming Ripley was using cover effectively

  • Humane traps deployed and monitored, including a Starlink-enabled Missy Trap with remote viewing and triggering

  • Cellular trail cameras and nearby security cameras monitored continuously

  • Approximately 300 flyers distributed throughout the community

What Made the Difference

This case was resolved because of community awareness. Shares, conversations, flyers, and people paying attention mattered. One person recognized Ripley and made the call.

This is a reminder that getting the word out works.
