Missing Dog Report: Nova

Current Status (as of Tuesday, August 5 at 6 PM)

Nova has been missing for 14 days. The search is now focused in the Lakewood Road, Oak Hill, Route 550, and Tick Ridge areas based on consistent but unconfirmed visual reports from residents.

Trail cameras and feeding stations have been deployed and are being monitored. However, no confirmed photo evidence of Nova has been captured at this time. She is believed to be moving primarily at night and avoiding all human interaction.

Background on Nova’s Disappearance

Nova was transported to a foster home on Silver Globe Road on July 22, 2025. She had been in the home for less than 10 minutes when the resident dog opened the door. Both dogs slipped outside. Only one returned. Nova vanished into unfamiliar territory before she had any chance to bond with her environment, caretakers, or name. She is operating entirely on survival instinct

This case highlights the strain currently placed on our shelter and foster systems. Nova came from a humane society that is well beyond capacity. Her foster family stepped forward with the sole goal of helping relieve that burden. They never had a chance to connect with her—and they are devastated by what happened

If you live in or near the search area, please check:

• Trail cameras or game cameras

• Ring or home security footage

• Barns, sheds, or wooded edges

• Roadways at dawn and dusk

If you believe you’ve seen Nova, do not call out or approach. Take a photo or video from a distance and report it immediately. Your tip could be the one that leads to her safe recovery.
